Dart Vale Vets are pleased to offer farmers in South Devon a chance to learn about several major diseases that may affect their stock and offer health planning, advise and diagnostic samples through the Healthy Livestock initiative. The scheme run by Duchy College provides part funding towards education and testing on BVD (Beef and Dairy), Johnes (Beef and Dairy), Respiratory Disease (Beef), Mastitis (Dairy) and Lameness (Dairy).
Vets Chris Jones and Chris Bamford have been trained to provide Farmers with up-to-date information on these diseases and offer herd health planning and risk assessments based on data collected from diagnostic samples. Parts of the scheme provide access to a herd health planning tool that allows an easy to follow herd health plan to be created.
The scheme utilises group education and one-to-one farm meetings to offer each farm a bespoke assessment of the disease and plan to protect the herd or combat the disease if present.
The following talks are available to be booked by contacting Miranda on 01803 867447:
Wed 11th Jan 7pm @ Totnes Johnes – SWHLI
Wed 18th Jan 7pm @ Totnes BVD – SWHLI
We feel this is great opportunity for Farmers in the South West to learn about and plan for these major diseases.
